Legionnaires' disease is a potentially fatal form of pneumonia caused by the inhalation of small droplets of contaminated water containing Legionella.
All man-made hot and cold water systems are susceptible to Legionella growth. Favourable conditions include suitable growth temperature ranges, water droplet (aerosol) production and dispersion, water storage and/or recirculation, and the presence of “food” for the organism, such as rust, sludge, scale, or biofilm. Under these conditions, Legionella bacteria may multiply, increasing the risk of exposure. It is essential to recognise that Legionella can colonise both large and small systems, necessitating effective risk management for both.
Dead legs, warm temperatures in cold water storage, low hot water temperatures, cold water storage tank scale are just a few of the problems that can all lead to Legionella growth. Legionella can be fatal in some cases especially where the elderly and infants are exposed to it.
We undertake both commercial and domestic Legionella Risk Assessments

Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the term used to describe the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use.
Most electrical safety defects can be found by visual examination but some types of defect can only be found by testing. However, it is essential to understand that visual examination is an essential part of the process because some types of electrical safety defect can't be detected by testing alone.
A relatively brief user check (based upon simple training and perhaps assisted by the use of a brief checklist) can be a very useful part of any electrical maintenance regime. However, more formal visual inspection and testing by a competent person may also be required at appropriate intervals, depending upon the type of equipment and the environment in which it is used
